Out and About - 20/03/15

Finally back !
So on the 20th March 2015 - the UK was due to have a partial solar eclipse with upto 85% of the sun being covered within in area I live, the weather, being lovely all day I thought  I would try and snap a few pictures, whilst managing to take a lot of photos, very few I felt were worthy of placing into this post.

I am getting back into the jist of photography again after winter and plan to take two trips to RAF Cosford over the next two weeks, with my birthday on the 7th April, I plan on investing in a new camera, I currently use the Fujifilm Finepix S4500, but plan to purchase my first DSLR camera and have my heart set on the Nikon D3200, each trip I will take photos with each camera and hopefully bring a new post comparing the quality and talk about which camera I think is my favourite.

Cosford Airshow - 2014

Hello everyone, now this post is long overdue (Seven months infact), but with not a lot of inspiration and lots of things going on in my life, I havent had a lot of time to post on this blog. But I am back now, and hopefully will be able to post more regularly over the year.

Back on the 8th June 2014 I visited Cosford Airshow, if you do not know Cosford Airshow is a yearly, one day event where thousands of people from members of the public, aviation addicts and VIP's attend this event.

I can start of by saying that 2014's event was a lot more planned out in comparison to 2013, especially with traffic management I personally found that access onto and off of the airfield was a lot more managed. 2014 introduced the parking bay, a system in which a few hundred cars would come on and show their tickets then would be allowed onto the airfield, this not only made access to the show quicker, but it also reduced traffic flow, which was a great start - however due to the heavy rain the previous day, made some areas of the field rather muddy, but the weather was amazing on the day, with only one short shower just as the Typhoon was to display.

Onto the displays, I was very impressed with the flying display in 2014, I must admit I get impressed rather easy and there were a few highlights for me, which I will include in pictures further on down. Some of the displays at the 2014's show included ); Breitling Wingwalkers, BAF Red Devils, RAF Voyager , Midair Squadron - Canberra & Hunter, Spitfire PR11, BBMF Dakota/Spitfire/Hurricane ), RAF Typhoon, RAF Sea King, GliderFX, RAF Red Arrows, Royal Navy Solo Black Cat, The Blades, Vulcan XH558, Army Apache, Jet Provost T5, and The Yakovlevs - wow thats a large list!
Unfortunately there was some problems meaning some aircraft were unable to attend including the C17 Flypast, Lancaster Bomber (In France) and the Royal Navy Sea Fury and Swordfish.

The air displays are always the best bit of the show for me and over the last 2 years have started with the Jaguar Taxi, originally consisting of one Jaguar, but then got replaced with 2, so it was lovely to hear the roaring of the Jag's at 10:15am on the morning, it got the displays off to a 'roaring' start.

Some of the highlights for me at this years show were; The Red Arrows, RAF Typhoon, Sea King, Canberra, BBMF Dakota and the Lynx, and they are included in the pictures below.

2014 was in my opinion an amazing show and I honestly cant wait for the 2015 show (which is in just over 5 months away!) and if you are not aware, the Cosford management team annouced their first paticipant for the show and their first international act which is the Swiss Air Force F18 which is super exciting.

Change To My Blog

Ok so hello everyone, if you like to check on my blog regularly you may notice that I have deleted some of my previous posts. That is because my blog is no longer going to contain loads of random personal things - my blog name with remain the same...but will however contain a lot more photography. Throughout the summer when I leave school, I hope to go to a range of events where I can take photos.. these may be aviation, public events or simply nature. I would like to get a website up and running when I feel I have plenty of photos, its only at this period I only have aviation images haha!

I will keep my blog updated as much as I can and in about 2 weeks time I should have a Cosford Airshow 2014 review up!... keep watching.

Visit to Cosford -Airshow Review- 2013

So on the 9th June, me, my Mum and my Grandad went to RAF Cosford for the first RAF airshow event of the year, over 50,000 people attended as the weather was hot and the Vulcan was making its first debut of the year. Many people wandered around the sites of the air museum, static displays, and much more!

The gates opened at 8, earlier than expected due to the high demand of people which were going to turn up, meaning unfortunately there were ques for up to 4 hours on the motorway and some people never even made it to Cosford.
But anyway throughout the day many events took place, and many were very exciting. the weather kept very good throughout the day and it was very warm too.

The air display acts were amazing in themselves some of the top flying display acts which took place from the RAF are the Red arrows with their amazing aerobatics, the Typhoon and its high speed display, the Chinook with completed its own display, then completed a MERT demo with the Apache (with its amazing flying crew and an attendance from Prince Harry himself) which then the Apache completed its own display. The Battle of Britain Lancaster, Spitfire, Hurricane and Dakota and its display holding memories. And some of the civilian acts such as The Blades with their stunts, Sally-B and her memorable flying display, The Vulcan - which many people came to see, which completed a few flypasts with the Rv8tors then completed its own display. There was also a lot more aircraft participating such as the RAF falcons, RAF Sea King and its SAR demo, the RAF Tucano, the Army air cops Lynx, the Sea Fury, Aerostars, F-86 Sabre, O'briens Flying Circus, Swip Team, Rv8tors and the Supermarine Spitfire.
 And there was a special flypast organised from the C130-J Hercules which took place from the VC10 flying past in last years show. The spectacular flying display lasted around 6 hours, and kept all of the crowd entertained.

Overall- the airshow was very planned out with a vary of activities to participate in, plenty to see and plenty to do, the weather was good for the day, the air display was brilliant watching all the aerobatics etc. And I hope to return to Cosford next year on the 8th June 2014.

Birds in every weather.

So for many parts of the UK the snow is back, some love it, others do not. I liked the snow up until the point it turned to ice, and now I dread it. But for the fact I have been at home ill (sadly) I took my time to take a few pictures of some of the birds flying and (sitting?) by. Also whilst pondering at my Nan's house last weekend I went outside wither herself and one of my younger cousins, and pulled my camera out to take a few snap shots of the birds. I understand the pictures are not the best. But practice makes perfect right?
